Not often do you get to see raccoons outside the zoo. While I was at a friend’s place, something had startled the cats from the back patio. It was quite dark outside even with the light on, so I couldn’t figure out what petrified the cats.
As I went to see for myself, I discovered two fairly big mammals peering at me on the other side of the sliding door. I instantly knew they were raccoons with their distinctive masked appearance and stripy tail. They were almost three times the size of the ginger cat and that cat’s big.
They didn’t appear to be startled at all even though I was standing on the other side of the door, they just went about their business looking at me from time to time.
I did some research after this incident, and discovered that raccoons are common in the USA, even in urban areas. Well, there you go.
